Community rules

How the crew rides together.

Six rules, zero tolerance for abuse. The same rules you accept in the app, with a bit more on what they mean and how reports are handled.

Version 1.0Last updated October 2026District 16 · North Ox Collective

Written for a private members' club in plain English. These documents are due a solicitor's review before the D16 app and website launch to the public.

Why we have rules

D16 is an invite-only club for riders aged 18 and over. Everyone in it agrees to these rules when they join, and they apply everywhere you represent the club: chat, crew voice channels, rides, meets and events, the marketplace and the D16 WhatsApp group.

Zero tolerance for abuse. These are the same six rules you accept in the app; below each one is a little more on what it means.

Ride your own ride

Ride within your limits and the law. Group pace never overrides your judgement. No stunts on public roads.

Nobody should ever feel pushed to ride faster than they want to. Ride captains set the plan; you set your pace. Drop back, pull over or leave the ride whenever you like, and nobody gives you grief for it. No wheelies, racing or filming dangerous riding on public roads to post in the club.

Respect the crew

No harassment, hate, threats or bullying — in chat, on rides or anywhere else. Disagree like adults.

That includes jokes or “banter” about someone's race, religion, sex, sexuality, gender identity, disability or age, unwanted sexual comments or advances, and piling on. Criticise the idea, not the person.

Keep it in the club

Don't share members' locations, photos, routes or personal details outside D16 without their say-so.

Live locations, ride tracks, home towns and phone numbers are shared inside D16 so we can ride together and stay safe. Screenshots of chat, photos of riders or plates, and routes that start at someone's house stay in the club unless the people in them say otherwise. Ask before you post photos of other riders.

No spam or selling

No adverts, scams or selling in chat. The shop is the only place D16 sells anything.

Got gear or a bike to sell? Use the members' marketplace, and list honestly. Deals there are between members; the club isn't part of them and never handles payment. No stolen goods, ever.

Look out for each other

Use Home Safe, report road hazards and answer a crash alert if you are nearest. Crash detection is an aid, not a guarantee.

If a crash alert comes in and you're nearest, check in: call the rider, ride to them if it's safe, and call 999 or 112 if in doubt. Use Home Safe after a ride so the crew knows you made it. Crash detection is an aid, not a guarantee, so never rely on it alone.

Report, block, move on

Long-press any message to report it or block the sender. Admins review every report and remove anyone who breaks these rules.

Don't argue it out in chat. Report it, block if you need to, and let the admins deal with it. Reporting someone in good faith never gets you in trouble.

Never OK, no warnings

These get content removed and usually mean immediate suspension or removal from the club:

  • Threats of violence, or encouraging anyone to hurt themselves or others.
  • Hate speech or harassment targeting someone for who they are.
  • Sexual content, or sexual harassment, of any kind in club spaces.
  • Anything that sexualises a child. We report it to the police.
  • Sharing someone's private information, location or intimate images without their consent.
  • Scams, fraud, selling stolen goods, drugs or weapons.
  • Recording crew voice channels or members without their consent.

Crew voice channels

  • Voice is live and relayed between riders. The club doesn't record it, and nobody else may either.
  • Keep the channel clear for ride calls: regroups, hazards, fuel stops. Emergencies always take priority.
  • Push-to-talk if your mic picks up wind, and mute if you're stopped for a chat that isn't for everyone.

How to report

  • In the app: long-press any message, then choose Report or Block.
  • On the website: in members' chat, open the message's options menu and choose Report or Block.
  • On a ride, at an event or in the WhatsApp group: tell a ride captain or an admin, or email hello@district16.club.
  • Someone in danger? Call 999 or 112 first, then let us know.

Blocking hides that rider's messages from you straight away. They aren't told. Manage blocked riders in the app under Me → Blocked members.

What happens next

  • Admins review every report and aim to act within 24 hours. Only admins see reports, and the rider you report is never told who reported them.
  • Depending on what happened, admins may take no action, have a word, remove the message, suspend the account, or remove the rider from the club. Serious or illegal content may be passed to the police.
  • Admins can remove any message or listing that breaks these rules. Moderation actions are recorded in the club's admin log.
  • Think a decision was wrong? Email hello@district16.club within 14 days and a different admin will look at it where possible.

These rules are part of the club's Terms and Conditions. Reports and moderation are covered in the Privacy notice.

Changes

The admin team may update these rules as the club grows. The version and date at the top show the current one, and we'll tell you in the app about any significant change.
